Sunset Experience
Experience Lake Havasu’s Original Sunset Cruise — our signature 3-hour excursion aboard Serenity Now.
Lake Havasu’s Original Sunset Cruise
Our Sunset Experience is our signature excursion and what we are known for. It is Lake Havasu’s original sunset cruise — a 3-hour journey aboard Serenity Now, created for passengers who want to experience Lake Havasu, Copper Canyon, and the Colorado River in a way that is scenic, peaceful, personal, and unforgettable.
This is not a standard Lake Havasu boat tour. Everything about this excursion is designed around the changing light, the scenery, the music, the history, and the quiet magic that happens as Lake Havasu turns from day to night.
Aboard Serenity Now
Serenity Now is a one-of-a-kind custom pontoon vessel built by the owner specifically for touring on Lake Havasu. The concept behind the vessel is simple: the scenery is the show.
With theater-style seating and individual captain’s seats that rotate 360 degrees, every passenger can follow the landscape as it changes around them. There are no crowded rows and no obstructed views — just comfortable seating, open scenery, and a front-row experience to the lake, canyons, coves, wildlife, mountains, sunset, and evening sky. We take only six passengers on the Sunset Experience, keeping it small and intimate so everyone can enjoy the excursion to the fullest. Serenity Now also has a restroom on
board for passenger comfort.
Designed and built by owner/operator Captain Kenny Samp, Serenity Now is a truly unique vessel created to help passengers Experience Lake Havasu in Comfort & Style.
The Experience
Your journey begins and ends at the London Bridge Resort Executive Dock, just steps from our Ticket Booth in the London Bridge English Village at the foot of the stairs of the London Bridge at London Bridge Resort. From there, we travel through Bridgewater Channel and into Thompson Bay, sharing the history of the London Bridge, Lake Havasu City, Robert P. McCulloch, and the surrounding desert topography.
Because this is our longer sunset excursion, we are able to share more of the area’s history, scenery, and natural features along the way. We are always watching for wildlife, which may include bighorn sheep, burros, mule deer, coyotes, and many species of waterfowl.
We travel 12 miles into the South Basin of Lake Havasu, meandering through the backwater canyons, coves, inlets, and scenic shoreline that make this stretch of the Colorado River so special.
One of the highlights is Copper Canyon, considered one of the most scenic canyons on Lake Havasu. At this time of day, the lower sun casts colors and shadows across the canyon walls that you normally would not see. On this excursion, we go to the back of the canyon, giving you a more complete view of one of Lake Havasu’s most beautiful natural areas.
From Copper Canyon, we continue through the coves and backwater areas of the South Lake. Everything is choreographed to the position of the sun and to music, allowing the scenery, timing, and atmosphere to come together naturally.
We then travel to Steamboat Cove, a natural inlet once used during the steamboating era on the Colorado River for refueling and resupplying.
Our turnaround point is the Sleeping Indian, a one-mile mountain formation resembling the silhouette of a sleeping chief. Your captain will share his story and legend and when all is said and done, you become part of that legend.
As Day Turns to Night
The return journey is where the Sunset Experience becomes truly unforgettable.
As we travel back up river, the western sky begins to glow, the water reflects the changing colors, and the desert mountains soften into evening. A compilation of classic music plays throughout the excursion, chosen to fit the mood, the scenery, and the moment.
From May through October, the experience continues into the night with stargazing and our seasonal Aurora Lightshow. We make another stop in Copper Canyon, where high-powered lights beneath Serenity Now reflect off the water and create a unique effect on the canyon walls, mimicking the movement of the Aurora Borealis.
During the winter months, the return is all about the sunset itself — the colors radiating across the western sky, the calm of the lake after dark, and the peaceful ride back as the city lights begin reflecting on the water.
As we return to our docks, the city lights of the South Basin shimmer across the lake and the London Bridge is lit up, creating a beautiful ending to an evening on Lake Havasu.
What to Bring
Complimentary bottled water is provided on board.
Passengers are welcome to bring other beverages, including wine or cocktails, along with a small cooler and light snacks. Plastic cups are available if needed. If you would like clean ice for beverages or cocktails, let us know when you check in and we will provide it for you.
Please avoid stemware on board.
In the winter months, we recommend dressing in layers, as it can feel cooler on the water after sunset. Heavy warm blankets are available on board for your comfort.
In the summer months, we recommend comfortable clothing, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. We do our best to keep passengers out of direct sunlight before the sun dips behind the mountains, and cool towels are available on board to help keep you comfortable.
